"Dr. Blake Sade", greeted Fr. Theodore, as lightning sparked through the evening sky and the thunder disrupted the silence of St. Marlowe's Cathedral.

"Tristan Noe, Father," the young doctor politely rebutted, "Too many ears out there."

"Ah, of course," the priest nodded. The old man's eyes looked over the young doctor's shoulder as if expecting to see someone prying on them. "Your pen name."

"My pen name," the young doctor repeated the words of the priest as acknowledgment.

"If you're here, I can only assume... God let me be wrong..."

"Yes," the young doctor didn't let the priest finish his sentence. Hatred and pain engulfed the doctors' eyes as memories of brutal massacres flashed before his eyes.

"I'm sorry, son," Fr. Theodore gave a fatherly pat on the young doctor's back, "I didn't expect the Vatican to send you, so soon."

"The Holy Father believes they're here," Tristan sounded grave, "The enemies of the Church. They're here. The same enemies who killed my family."

Thunder roared more brutally as if one with Tristan's agony.

The neurosurgeon and researcher working for the Pontifical Academy of Science, was sent by the Vatican to aid the Brotherhood after *that* massacre.

"The Carabinieri didn't believe us," there was a crack in Tristan's voice, "Why would they?"

"And so, they sent you here. To clean the mess on your own." Fr. Theodore was finally making sense of Tristan's hideousness. "What do you plan, son?"

Tristan gave a smirk, "I'll be me. Tristan Noe. The novelist. An undercover sleuth for the Brotherhood."

The priest didn't answer.

"As much as I appreciate your welcome, Father, however, I have no time to waste." Tristan bowed his head and went for the Cathedral's gloomy door.

"Where are you going?" the priest asked.

The young doctor didn't even bother to turn around, "To Hammett Plaza. Establish myself a home-office. Everything... will begin there."

"And Elizabeth?"

There was an evident pause, an emotional one, before Tristan answered, "She'll find me."

The priest shook his head. He sensed the gravity of Tristan's sorrow. "Tot ago attero..."
