Blocking hunts

Droid

Quite a while ago when I was in AIU we had a bit of fun with Bilbot; we left a hunt on last case at 83 odd percent and all went to bed except Jo. She waited up half the night until suddenly he logged in and his agency did case after case and got to same 83 percent at which point Jo accused and he lost standing points for nothing.

A few months ago Darkness stopped playing, some of their members moved to other agencies, tome started again with new identities, again they left a case about 85 percent complete and eventually we had to risk losing points to clear that hunt, or maybe another agency cleared it, I don't remember that far back accurately.

Anyway, the point is that any agency can clog up hunts so that nobody else can open one that way so there has to be a mechanism to stop it from happening. I suggest one step gets removed and another randomly generated one gets added each day hunt isn't solved. Perhaps two steps removed from big agencies, and just one from small ones.

It will take some coding by Ben but it could be built into the daily maintenance schedule - knock those on last step back one place and make them do it again. As usual everyone's thoughts welcome although it's down to Ben to interpret it in software.

I strongly agree with this, Droid. At least agency starting the hunt should make sure there's someone to finish it before all of them goes to bed. ^_^

As per usual an excellent piece Droid.

I agree except that it will take a smaller, newer agency a few days sometimes to finish TH and we all need small agencies to take TH's. Without new agencies SoM will ultimately be successful (or as successful). Small agencies have to build and be able to do TH's without feeling like everyone is upset with them for tying up TH's. Kind of a tough situation. Maybe more available TH's or TH's available more often.

Hey Yeti, good to see your ugly mug again ;)

Regarding small agencies, if it was one person on their own like me before I joined Yetti in his hideout it would be a bit severe, because they'd only be able to do 3 steps of the smallest 5 step hunt per day. A 4 member agency should get 12 favours per day though and I've done many hunts with just 4 players within 24 hours.

I wouldn't suggest removing a step on first maintenance period, that could mean you only had a few minutes to complete; just subsequent ones.

sometimes its not the agency that's not active enough, but the pesky townie that doesn't appear often enough.

@Droid for you information we closed that 85\% percent hunt by Darkness. And what you did at AIU is pretty lame.

Changing the hunts will keep new agencies from hunting, if they even dare to try in the first place. There are enough hunts for everyone. 3 per day for every faction. :D

And yes agree with J. on the last part, sometimes an agency is just not able to close it.

Oh, it was you that cleared Darkness hunt, well done Isaac.

It wasn't lame of us at all, at the time Bilbot was solving cases by interacting with the database directly instead of going through the Flash UI, Whilst that was pretty clever of him it also meant he could solve any case in under a minute.

Everyone who's still playing this game, whether you're in an agency or not, NEVER give up, eventually the new contents will be added, in hope with a certain date.

oh ok , sorry Droid.

and Joseph do you know more then us? with that board moderator Helen in your agency and all? Does she have HOT intel?

If a hunt is "blocked" you (and your agency) have a choice.
Your choice is- to steal or not to steal?

If your agency is set on hunting, and no other hunts are available- then go for it! This is a game, there are no sure things, sometimes you win sometimes you lose.

I personally wish more agencies were competitive and raced against each other for a hunt, but things are a bit slower now.
