Deadlines shortened on Higher Case Levels

After reviewing the number of case deadlines missed at high levels, I've decided to shorten the average case deadline a bit for all Very Hard cases and up. It's not a big change, but we'll reevaluate in a few weeks to see if those deadlines are putting the right amount of time pressure on experienced detectives.

If you find yourself running up against deadlines, and your detective makes use of physical analysis skills, you may want to consider investing in a LAB COAT.

hmm....so instead of increasing the case deadlines, you've shorten them?

Ahh, now the coats are beginning to make sense. I like where this is going, but I don't like to have missed deadlines!

I like to see the game increasing in challenge.
Thanks again, Ben.

Yeah, I will probably make a couple other tweaks to increase case difficulty at the high ends. The solved rate is ridiculously high on most levels.

I already thought SH cases with 7 suspects were pretty short.
But i missed only a few...so Sleuth admins statistics are right.
Thanks for re-inventing Sleuth game play!

Can not judge if it is too short now really....
have to play the new deadlines first, then i will give more feedback.

I agree with Isaac. Do tend to panic a little when I see 7 suspects and 3 days for deadline. But, I too have not had any missed deadlines in SH cases.

I do like these new changes. Certainly has seem to reignite the SoM fire. Thanks Ben!

That reminds me.

Another Change I was considering making is to hide the number of undiscovered suspects in high level cases. Would doing that make much of a difference in terms of difficulty?

Wow I don't know about that one. It would definately make a difference in terms of difficulty. Think with combined shortened deadlines and not knowing if you have all the suspects might be a bit challenging. However, we still will be finding yellow notes and keys to homes so I guess it wouldn't be impossible.

Hiding the number of suspects is a really big change, I accuse on zero stars if I have completely eliminated all other suspects.

Originally in Beta the game worked that way. I changed it because there was a common complaint that having to go around to everybody and ask for leads was a bit boring.

From a narrative standpoint it's certainly better to have those suspects invisible, and it certainly would force you to drastically change your strategy significantly on the higher levels.

We'll give the shorter deadlines a little while and take a look at the statistics before making additional changes to tweak the cases harder.

Fair enough. Thank you
