Challenge Points and Coats

Sleuth Admin
Sleuth Admin

As of now, Multi Sleuth Showdowns and Treasure Hunts both award Challenge Points to the winner(s). As you have no doubt noticed, Challenge Points are a requirement for purchasing a new type of equippable item, COATS.

Additional Notes:

* Coats are gendered! You can only buy or wear a coat that fits your detective's gender. (maybe this rule will be relaxed the next time Mardi Gras rolls around).

* Although it is possible to play a Multisleuth Showdown by yourself, you will only earn Challenge Points if there is at least one other opponent. So round up your friends!

* On the other hand, the winning agency in a treasure hunt will all gain Challenge Points, regardless of how many other agencies are competing.

* You cannot currently store a coat in an agency equipment locker. This feature is coming in the next few days (still haven't decided if they will take the same number of slots as a gift).

* You cannot currently take a coat on or off. This may be added in the future, but I haven't decided whether or not it would be preferable that you could do this.

* Coats do not currently degrade. Sometime over the next few days, they will start degrading with usage. By usage, I mean that anytime you gain a benefit from a coat, it will wear out a bit. Eventually a coat will fall apart.

@Droid:

You can choose not to invite players that could join your agency to steal coats.

I meant don't promote them beyond Rookies, because stated in "Help", Rookies can't use Item Locker, but then I've demoted a member in ZO to Rookie to try it out, it looks like Rookie can also pick up Coat but not supposed to, according to the rules.

@Sleuth Admin:
hehe...so, there you have it, the rules given that Rookies aren't supposed to be able to use Item Locker need to be change. or perhaps, can directors set our own ranking system and which rights is given to different ranks?

@Joseph, yup, rookies can take anything they want out of locker even though rules say they can't. They're the ones who need the items, not us grumpy old directors ;)

I'm also wondering just how coats will work in treasure hunts. do you have to be wearing it when you ask for the case and all the way through to the end or can you put it on just before accusing.

Will you be able to keep popping into the locker to swap coats during a single case or do you put it on at the beginning and wear it to the end.

Does the Doylesborough coat wear out when you talk to someone in Hammet Square?

Maybe the best solution to the Coat Locker security issue would be to do what we've done in Sleuth Noir: allow the storer to set a minimum rank for a person to remove the coat. Would that be a welcome change?

@Sleuth Admin:
Yeah, that would be just great, or better still, let directors create our own ranking system. ^_^

What about an option to make coats private, the same as case files?

A whole ranking system is not necessary, if you just apply the rule that rookies can not take coats.

I hear more and more people they like a separate locker for the coats, or expand the general locker space.
Making coats private will consume to much locker space, that's not the best idea.

Think the coat working TH fix is more wanted above anything.

@Isaac:

Who made you think that you can decide what's best for Sleuth Admin to change first?

Just because Sleuth Admin listen to some of your suggestion, doesn't mean that you're right?

Thanks for taking care of the TH/coat issue.
That helps out a lot!
