As of now, Multi Sleuth Showdowns and Treasure Hunts both award Challenge Points to the winner(s). As you have no doubt noticed, Challenge Points are a requirement for purchasing a new type of equippable item, COATS.
Additional Notes:
* Coats are gendered! You can only buy or wear a coat that fits your detective's gender. (maybe this rule will be relaxed the next time Mardi Gras rolls around).
* Although it is possible to play a Multisleuth Showdown by yourself, you will only earn Challenge Points if there is at least one other opponent. So round up your friends!
* On the other hand, the winning agency in a treasure hunt will all gain Challenge Points, regardless of how many other agencies are competing.
* You cannot currently store a coat in an agency equipment locker. This feature is coming in the next few days (still haven't decided if they will take the same number of slots as a gift).
* You cannot currently take a coat on or off. This may be added in the future, but I haven't decided whether or not it would be preferable that you could do this.
* Coats do not currently degrade. Sometime over the next few days, they will start degrading with usage. By usage, I mean that anytime you gain a benefit from a coat, it will wear out a bit. Eventually a coat will fall apart.

I think you should make a special coat locker, some of the perfume bottles are a bit leaky and everything in our locker smells of Chanel and I don't want my coat to smell of it ;)

Ben, what exactly are challenge points and how do we earn them? And, For those who did not subscribe, will getting a coat be applicable to us?

I agree with Droid :)
One more question:
Challenge points (CP) are shown on our "CV site" and it is good.
I buy a coat and ...? Number of CP will decrease, or we will have the same situation like with skill points: absolute number of points (shows for everybody) and (in brackets) available number of points (shows only for detective)?

@Sinthu:
If you've never been subscribed after these coats are introduced, then you would never get a chance to buy the coats, as there's currently only 2 ways to earn these Challenge Points (CP).
One is Treasure Hunting, Second is Showdown. If you're subscribed, you can take this chance to join any agency which is doing treasure hunting, then you can earn 1 challenge point per successfully won Treasure Hunt by your agency. Besides that, maybe Sleuth Admin could add-on future updates on personal hunt, to get challenge points, but of course, that's up to him to decide.

Ben -
Why doesn't the additional standings get added to contacts who are at zero? One of the main reasons I bought the trench was to keep all 3 faction minions above zero for encoded notes but nothing was added to the ones at zero. All contacts should mean all contacts and I'm pretty sure 0 + 2 = 2. :)
