Is Newbie boosting cheating?

Droid

If Id dump a whole pile of solved IH and RH cases in my agency for the rookies to take is it cheating?

Will it put them off playing for real because they don't get any skill points after the massive injection they get for "solving" those cases?

Well, I believe it depends on who is the giver & who is the taker. If it makes the giver happy by giving ready-to-accuse cases to a taker to take and accuse them, I would be happy to give. ^_^

@ Hasegawa:
Stop being so arrogant, before me and the other 2 directors cast you out of our agency.

Thank you for clarifying that Droid, as I am right as I thought from the beginning.

@Joseph; you cannot chuck out a fellow director, you will have to log in as Hasegawa and click the resign button instead.

@Bilbot
So you speak of making the design decision, not about creating the algorithm for the machine. Now I see what you mean. What made me ask the question was that red cloth you wore: the word impossible. That always makes me extremely suspicious, especially in relation to system design and programming. Yet I don't think it would be that hard to design such a feature - unless one wants to create a perfect black and white world. You just would have to give up the simple binary logic behind the idea of RTA/non-RTA. But I'm not so sure I'd like to propose that to be done. The server is slow enough already..

I apologize to anybody who regards my posts arrogant. No such intention indeed.

He could do that, and would, if he liked. But there's a more subtle way, too. He just needs to help me with SH level cases as he has promised me, and then I shall resign myself..

I don't think Newbie boosting is cheating, but I think in the long run you are cheating the Newbie out of a lot of the enjoyment found in discovering the game for himself/herself.

When I first started playing this game there were no GODs. We had to figure everything out on our own, and that's what really made the game so addictive to me - that and waiting to see what new element of the game Ben was going to release.

Hasegawa Takashi, that is what an agency is supposed to do. To help you out. Press the resign button and move on to an agency that will help you out.

Hasegawa, Sorry I said something before I looked at your history. You are too young of a detective to be doing SH cases, I don't blame your director. You didn't do enough case work yet.

Why don't you blame him rather than his director since it's the same person?

Apart from what Sass Emiss says (which I agree with) that it spoils the learning curve for the newbie it also screws it up for other genuine newbies. They slog their guts out to get in the top gumshoes or whatever ladder only to see someone suddenly leap-frog them by only doing 10 cases.

And yes, I was a beta tester just like some of you others, pretty shocked that the game was released before any of the bugs I reported were dealt with.
